Gorur Gari: the Environment Friendly Vehicle of Bangladesh

Gorur Gari (Bullock-cart) is one of the most popular transports of rural Bangladesh. It is a two wheeled vehicle, usually pulled by two bullocks. It is a means of transportation which has been used in many parts of the Globe since ancient time.  The body of the vehicle made by wicker of bamboo and it’s wheel by wood. Sitting on the front side of the vehicle a man controls it.
It is also a traditional technology of rural production system. Gorur Gari plays very salient role in rural life. Using Gorur Gari villagers move to different parts of the region, they can transport their agricultural tools, fertilizer, bring their crops from cornfield to home and so on.

In the current age, the flows of industrialization, urbanization and globalization are affecting rural life and it is rapidly turning to urban areas. Modern technologies are being taken place by the people who were habituated to use their traditionally made tools. It is the story of the changes that are crucially destroying our well balanced ecosystem and producing possibilities of natural disaster. If we analyze the role of Gorur Gari in Bangadesh, we will find a very good instance of how it is useful for environment. A Gorur Gari, on the one hand, gives you a vehicle by what you can transport so many things. On the other hand, it gives you two bullocks who produce organic fertilizer and other type of energy that you can use for various purposes. Instead of destroying the environment like modern vehicle, Gorur Gari keep it well settled.
